Northrup - June 18, 1988

Ah, my own personal contribution to Sacramento's rock scene. I was the original drummer for Mickey Finn, this was our first (and my only) show. We played a 45 minute set in 30 and then just jammed for the remaining 15. Bad drummer! It was a great time though.

Mickey Finn

Yours truly: "Pete" Russo on Drums - I had quite shoddy equipment and little money to upgrade it all.

Doug Fritz on Bass

Ron McBay on Guitar

Pete Minns on Vocals
You would also think that my involvement with the punk marketing I could have had more input into the design of this terrible flyer, but my head was very much elsewhere then. I don't even think we stayed for Hanzoff and Northrup.

Matrix - May 13, 1988

What's to say about this one? I must have known somebody in one of these - maybe Matrix? Otherwise, all defunct bands, none recorded as far as I can tell. Non recordatus.

Strutter - April 8, 1988

I got bubkis on this one though I did attend it for a short time. I think I knew a high school acquaintance, Tim Freeman, who was the drummer of one of these bands - Lethal Steel is my bet. Currently Strutter is a Kiss tribute band that had it's genesis in 1988, but they were from Akron.

Agent Orange - March 25, 1988

Agent Orange - another legend I never particularly warmed to though their music was a staple with the skater crowd I ran skated with. Also note the Chili Peppers in 1988 - though they already had three albums out by then, they were at their very best in these early days.

Poster version with the addition of I.G.D. (Infectious Garage Disease) - an ensemble that didn't take off.

The Alarm - March 14, 1988

Not my thing, The Alarm, though I'm aware they have a sizeable fan base. A Monday night show, I'm certain I didn't attend this one.

Lizzy Borden - January 11, 1988

Funny in retrospect that a band agreed to call themselves "Herbicide". Maybe they were good - I don't believe I attended this one to know.
Incidentally, Jason Mackenroth, known primarily as a drummer for the Rollins Band was the drummer for this version of Heathen. I played the crap out of their demo tape and it's one thing I miss not having around these days. He was a phenomenal player even then.
