M.D.C. - May 1, 1983

Not the first "Rock Against Reagan" - nor was it the last. This Dicks was the Austin version which, like MDC, called attention to continued police brutality among other things. The later, SF version, sound was described as "Hard Blues Rock". In any case heir reputation hold up after a relatively short existence (1980-86), but I had ever warmed to them particularly, nor the Crucifucks for that matter. Vocals matter.

D.O.A - April 22, 1987

This must have been a great one. D.O.A. are legends and it is from them whom we get the term "hardcore" as it applied to the musical diversion from "punk". Great band - Verbal Abuse and MDC too.

7 Seconds - March 11, 1987

First appearance of MDC here - a band I adored all out of proportion with their infamous "John Wayne was a Nazi". I no longer share much of their far left politics, but I did find great meaning in the work of this classic band at the time.

The poster version  - who the "one more cool band" was is lost to history.
